Today I uploaded the paper by Professor Ulrike WÖHR, Die Ambivalenz des Lebens und die Unmöglichkeit der Religion: MORIOKA MASAHIRO und Seine SEIMEIGAKU (The Ambivalence of Life and the Impossibility of Religion: Morioka Masahiro and his Seimeigaku(Life Studies)), published in 2001 in German. Professor Ulrike WÖHR criticizes Morioka's philosophy in this paper. Probably this is the first commentary on Morioka's works written outside Japan.

And Shohoji & her family translated the chapter 5 of Brain Dead Person into French!! (See their French translation. French website is here.) Chapter 5 has not been translated into English. Please visit their website and check the translation.

The book, Painless Civilization, published in October 2003, sold 10 thousand copies so far. It is now in 6th printing. I will have to translate book reviews and the first chapter of the book.....

My friends and I have discussed the possibility of "life studies" on a Japanese website during these four weeks. Life studies might become a new paradigm for cutting across various discuplines, but of course we have yet to explore this topic more deeply. I will revise the description of this page in the near future.

It is getting warmer here, but the wind is still cold at night. The cherry blossoms will be in bloom probably next week.

I am now planning the next book, which will deal with various aspects of men's sexuallity from the viewpoint of life studies.

Now you can read brief excerpts from book reviews of Painless Civilization.

What's New: Some additions to Painless Civilization page, and Brain Dead Person page.
